Integration of Geo-Services in SAP

The geoFramework provides the platform for the flexible integration of geo information services (GIS) into SAP without restrictions. This offers decisive advantages to SAP applications – in Logistics, Sales or Service geography has become more and more crucial for optimization of SAP processes.

The geoFramework constantly provides SAP applications with current information and performant services for geographical tasks.

Map display or geo codation of adress data directly offer new potential to SAP. The Developer’s Edition of io-DigitalSolutions geoFramework offers the possibility to easily and quickly implement geographic data in SAP applications. The framework will also be the basis for integration of other Add-On solutions made by io-DigitalSolutions – such as easyTrack, geoLocate or Locate & Share.

The framework is deeply anchored in SAP Netweaver® and communicates via SOAP inverface. The framework is transparent for all applications. The required geo servers (basic data such as maps and calculation logic) are delivered by approved data providers such as PTV AG (map&guide). The development components PTV xServer are fully supported by io-DigitalSolutions geoFramework.

The basic functionalities are all function calls the request broker may directly receive from an application:

  • Calculation of routes, distances and times
  • Road information (bridges, tunnels, vehicle restrictions, etc.)
  • Geo coding (location/backward coding)
  • Master data generation enriched by geographical data

  • Geo codation (localization) of address data
  • Map-based address data check
  • Route calculation based on definable vehicle profiles
  • Truck routing (road blockings, sizes of bridges, road types)
  • Calculation of road-related emissions (CO2)
  • Road-related sequence optimization based on various criteria
  • Restriction check (e.g. time frames, vehicle capacities, etc.)
  • Calculation of distances matixes (excat distances)
  • Automatic route optimization (n stops = n vehicles = n tours)
  • Functions for processing GPS vehicle localization data)
